Motivational Interviewing Training Schedule: Spring 2009

One-Day Advanced Training: Monday March 9th, 2009

This advanced Motivational Interviewing training is appropriate for participants who have already attended an introductory Motivational Interviewing training. During the day, participants will be given a variety of opportunities to improve their Motivational Interviewing skills through the use of role play, and by working with standardized patients (actors trained to play clients). Participants will also receive in depth constructive feedback from the trainer.

Two-Day Introductory Intensive: March 7th and 8th, 2009

Who?
This Motivational Interviewing training is appropriate for professionals/professionals-in-training who have had no prior or some exposure to motivational interviewing techniques. People whose work involves helping clients achieve behavior change, ( i.e. Psychologists, Social Workers, Psychiatrists, Physicians, Case Workers, Outreach Workers, Dieticians, Therapists, Clergy, Personal trainers, probation/parole officers etc.) will benefit most from this intensive Motivational Interviewing training.

What?
During the Motivational Interviewing training we will review all you need to know about the theory and principles of Motivational Interviewing. Following this, through the use of presentations, videos and demonstrations, the trainer will guide participants in learning the technique, style and spirit of Motivational Interviewing. All participants in the Motivational Interviewing training will have ample opportunity to practice Motivational Interviewing with the support of the trainer, using "role-play", "real play" and the help of a standardized patient (an actor trained to play a client who will give participants feedback on the practice interviews).

When?
Saturday March 7, 2009- 9:30am-4:30pm
Sunday March 8, 2009- 9:30am-4:30pm

There will be an hour lunch break each day with a catered lunch included. In addition, we will take several 10 minute breaks during the motivational interviewing training.

How and Where?
The Motivational Interviewing training will be held in the Union Square area (Broadway and 12th Street in Manhattan). Convenient to all public transportation and home to the vibrant Farmers Market, Union Square is the gateway to the West and East Village. If you are visiting New York for the Motivational Interviewing training, you will enjoy exploring one of the epicenters of New York City's commercial and cultural scenes.

The cost of the two-day Introductory Motivational Interviewing training is $550. There is a special full-time student rate of $375. The cost to attend the Advanced training on March 9th is $350 and is limited to 20 participants.You may pay by check, Mastercard or Visa.
